Tim: What are your favorite materials to work with?

Antoine: My favorite materials are plaster, fiber, polystyrene, and clay.

Tim: What artists are you inspired by?

Antoine: Giacometti, Turner, Hopper…

Tim: Tell us about your educational background. Do you have formal training in art?

Antoine: I have a background in visual arts where I earned my DEUG and my CAPES degrees. I am currently teaching at a visual arts college.

Tim: When did you decide to pursue art?

Antoine: Very early on; around the age of 15.

Tim: Is there anything else you would like to tell us about your background in regards to how your art has evolved?

Antoine: My father is a painter and also does etchings, which inevitably has had a strong influence on me!

Tim: This part is for you to ask yourself a question or write something fun for as long as you want.

Antoine: Antoine, without art, will you still be able to live?

Tim: Can you go into detail about your artistic process? How do you begin a piece? When do you know that a piece is finished?

Antoine: I always start by making rough-sketches of my sculptural projects. When I am satisfied by an idea, I make a skeleton out of polystyrene and wire, which I then coat with plaster (sometimes mixed with fibers). The final stage is in adding color to the sculpture.

Tim: How does contemporary life impact your creative practice?

Antoine: I imagine artists as being sponges of information: my day to day life and what surrounds me are the sources of inspiration in my work.

Tim: Tell us more about the philosophy behind your art. What motivates you to create?

Antoine: The passing of time and our place in society are at the crux of my work. What I produce today, will it contribute to a better life tomorrow? Is compromise necessary in order for people to live together? Does a person have to be alone in order to be free? Man is always at the center of my work: his loneliness, his difficulties in communicating, his choices, his place in the world.

Tim: If you could create any art installation without regard for expense or effort what would it consist of?

Antoine: I would make all of the sculptures life-size, so that the visitor is no longer just a spectator but instead becomes part of the work itself.

Tim: Why did you choose to work in the medium(s) that you use?

Antoine: I like the mixture of plaster/fiber because I have come to be very confident in working with it, and today I can freely give shape to my ideas through this medium. I like the earthy colors which give the sculptures a fossil-like aspect.

Tim: What are you working with at this time?

Antoine: I am currently working on the theme of vertical height and the feeling of lightness.

Tim: What is your studio like? Can you go into detail about your studio routine? Do you work in silence? Do you listen to music?

Antoine: I work at home, in my work space. There is a big table, two chairs, a little chimney and a lot of stuff everywhere. There are two paintings drying in a corner, sculptures, works in progress, pieces of cardboard and polystyrene…and my headset! I work to music!

Tim: Do You have any upcoming exhibits? Where readers can view your work? Any websites?

Antoine: Galerie Reg’Art Confrontations (April - Rouen, France). Pop Shop Gallery (beginning May - Sanary sur Mer, France). Concert de Métafonic (May - Paris, France). Galerie Dollita (beginning May - Quiberon-Bretagne, France).

Tim: Favorite words?

Antoine: Melancholy, Tactile, Fragile.

Thank you.

french version….

tim: what are your favorite materials to work with

tim:what artists are you inspired by
-Quels sont les artistes qui t’inspirent?

antoine:Giacometti, Turner, hopper…

tim:tell us about your educational background. Do you have formal training in art

tim: When did you decide to pursue art?

tim: is there anything else you would like to tell us about your background in regards to how your art has evolved?

tim:this part is for you to ask yourself a question or write
anything fun nonsense anything you want as long as you want

tim: can you go into detail about your artistic process? How do you begin a piece? When do you know that a piece is finished?

tim:how does contemporary life impact your creative practice?

tim: Tell us more about the philosophy behind your art. What motivates you to create?

tim: If you could create any art installation without regard for expense or effort what would it consist of?

tim: why did you choose to work in the medium(s) that you use?

tim lane: What are you working on at this time?

tim: what is your studio like? Can you go into detail about your studio routine? Do you work in silence– listen to music
-A quoi ressemble ton atelier?

tim: Do you have any upcoming exhibits? Where readers can view your work? OR .COMS
-As tu des expositions à venir?
